The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

WGU's Admissions Office is seeking a highly motivated and data-driven Business Analyst with a passion for using insights to enhance student retention and completion. This role is pivotal in supporting WGU’s mission to help students achieve their academic goals. You will analyze data to uncover trends, develop actionable insights, and collaborate across departments to implement strategies that improve retention rates, optimize student support, and increase overall student success. This role will be instrumental uphold the Office of Admissions Promise “to make a timely, accurate, and fair decision for all applicants and to communicate that decision and its implications with students and staff in a clear and concise manner.”

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

· Analyze student admissions and enrollment data to identify factors influencing retention, persistence, and completion.

· Maintain admissions decision rules and associated functions.

· Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and other analytical tools that provide actionable insights for admissions, academic, and student support teams.

· Collaborate closely with student support and academic departments to develop strategies to improve student retention and degree completion.

· Conduct in-depth analysis of demographic, behavioral, and academic factors that contribute to student success and attrition.

· Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of student interventions and support programs, providing data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.

· Support decision-making by developing predictive models that forecast student retention and completion risks.

· Work with institutional research teams to ensure alignment with university-wide goals and initiatives.

· Prepare and present detailed reports, presentations, and data visualizations to university leadership and key stakeholders.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends in higher education, particularly in admissions, retention, and student completion strategies.

· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Proven ability to interpret large datasets and provide actionable recommendations.

· Familiarity with student information systems (SIS) and customer relationship management (CRM).Experience with predictive modeling and statistical analysis to assess student retention risks and opportunities.

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

· Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience

· 2+ years of experience in data analysis

· Strong knowledge of data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar, along with experience in using data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.

· Proficient using a student information system (such as Banner/PeopleSoft, SalesForce), and document imaging system (such as OnBase/Kofax)

Experience in lieu of education

Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications

· A Master’s degree is preferred.

· Data analysis experience in higher education or admissions environment.
